We have started a
Social Club to meet on Thursdays when there is no Pirate Day, and again Volunteers will be much
welcomed to help supervise! The first big event was held on Oct 15th 2009 when Ivan Parton presented a fascinating slide
show of Old Brixham held in the Christian Community Centre in Fore Street. at 2.30 pm In the entrance foyer there
were leaflets, competitions, and buccaneers showcasing various workshops we are offering over the next few weeks! We have a meeting place in Town where children can do Craft Workshop, origami, puppet shows and puppet making and
competitions and adults can play Pirate Bingo, practise barbershop singing, learn belly dancing, try their hand at pirate
song karaoke, or balloon modelling, have a sing song, enjoy a juggling workshop, learn to speak like a pirate, sing shanties
or just enjoy a cup of tea and a biscuit! Find us at the Beacon of Light Church in Mount Pleasant Road
from 2pm5pm .The club has now suspended for the summer season but will reconvene on September 2 with a presentation
ceremony Please note children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times whilst in
the beacon of light building We can offer refreshments ! Please keep an eye on this web page in case details change nearer
the time- Thank you!
At the moment our club hasn't got a satisfactory name. If we call it a social club it
might paint a picture of adults only and of alcohol! - neither of which is accurate! Another name being touted is Pirate
Community Club, but that sounds clumsy. Danny suggested "Buccaneers Thursday Club" which does sound good! We
are running a "What shall we call the club?" competition- and hope to find an even better name! (There will
be a prize for the winner)
We have drawn up some simple rules for the club, you will be asked to sign in, no charge
is made for entrance or workshops, donations are however very much appreciated! - You may like to help with costume
design or leaflet distribution. Please click on the link below to the Brixham Buccaneers website and a list of contacts. We
look forward to welcoming you!
